We are a great team of people, who believe in what we do and do what we believe in. By the experience gained in workshops and births we know that Natural Childbirth is an important option in our times. We place the subject of conception, pregnancy and the child’s first year of life around this very option. We unite and articulate human nature with the latest scientific discoveries. That’s how we take advantage of what modern medical science can offer.

The Pakarii family is integrated, essentially, by mothers and fathers.

It was Maria de los Angeles who in 1995 called up Dr. Angela Brocker to ask if she could attend the birth of her child in her own house. Angela was in favor of Natural Childbirth but wasn’t sure how to proceed. Maria de los Angeles insisted, anyhow.

-“But then you would become my Guinea pig”, said Angela.

- “I want to be your Guinea pig!” answered Maria.

Born In Hamburg, Germany, decided to travel to South America after finishing her medical studies, attracted by the ancient culture of that part of the world. Finally she became caught by Peru, thus obtaining her second nationality. The passionate mixture of being fascinated by her own family, and her work as a medical researcher are the cornerstone of what today, 13 years later, is project Pakarii.

Later that same day the first birth in water was performed, at home too.

Throughout these years more families, doctors (medical and obstetricians) and a growing number of doulas have joined our team. There is also a number of people and institutions that collaborate with us in Lima and other cities of Peru. We have contributed throughout the years in increasing the possibility of having Natural Childbirths and Water Childbirths in this country.

And that’s how it all got started! The word spread among men and women! The first Pakarii team members were just a few. The first family meeting was the 18th of March 1996.
